"content_html": "
\n
Terms of Use
\n\n
Last updated: August 2026
\n\n
1. Who you're buying from
\n
Ungasp is made by Rajiv Shah in the United Kingdom. You can reach me at hello@ungasp.com and I'll answer.
\n
By using Ungasp you're agreeing to what's below. It's short, so it's worth the two minutes.
\n\n
2. What Ungasp is
\n
Ungasp guides your breathing. It counts phases, cues them with sound and vibration, and lets you build patterns of your own.
\n
That's all it is. It's a training and wellbeing app, not a medical device and not a substitute for anyone qualified. It doesn't diagnose, treat, cure or prevent anything, and nothing in it is medical advice.
\n\n
3. Breath holds, and your health
\n
Some practices in Ungasp involve holding your breath. Those aren't for everyone.
\n
Skip them if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have epilepsy or uncontrolled high blood pressure. Never do breath holds in water or near it. Never do them while driving or operating anything that needs your attention.
\n
If you have a heart or lung condition, or you're being treated for anything, talk to your doctor before you start. If you feel faint, dizzy or unwell at any point, stop and breathe normally.
\n
You know your own body better than an app does. Use your judgement.
\n\n
4. What's free and what isn't
\n
Ungasp is free to download, and everything in it is unlocked for a trial period from the day you first open it. No card, no sign-up, nothing to cancel.
\n
After the trial, two practices stay free for good. Everything else, including the pattern builder and anything you've built with it, needs Ungasp Pro.
\n
Themes, the Science Library and Apple Health stay free either way.
\n\n
5. Paying
\n
Ungasp Pro comes as a yearly subscription or a one-off purchase. Current prices are shown in the app and on the App Store, in your own currency.
\n
Apple takes the payment, not me. Your purchase is through your Apple Account and it's managed there.
\n
A subscription renews automatically at the end of each year unless you turn renewal off, which you do in your Apple Account settings at least a day before it's due. A one-off purchase doesn't renew.
\n\n
6. Refunds
\n
Refunds are Apple's to give, because Apple sold it to you. Ask through reportaproblem.apple.com.
\n
I can't issue a refund myself, but tell me what went wrong at hello@ungasp.com and I'll do what I can about the thing that caused it.
\n
None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
\n\n
7. What you build is yours
\n
The patterns and sets you create belong to you. They live on your phone and they're never sent anywhere.
\n
They aren't deleted when a trial ends or a subscription lapses. They sit in your library, locked, with their names intact, and they come straight back the moment you buy.
\n\n
8. What belongs to me
\n
The app itself, its name, its design, its sounds and its written content are mine. The built-in patterns are common breathing practices and I don't claim to own those, but the way Ungasp presents them is my work.
\n
Don't copy the app, take it apart or resell it. Use it as much as you like.
\n\n
9. When something goes wrong
\n
Ungasp is provided as it is. I'll fix what I can and I'd rather hear about a problem than not, but I can't promise it will never crash, never be interrupted, or work on every device and every version of iOS.
\n
I'm not liable for losses that couldn't reasonably have been expected when you bought it, or for anything arising from using the app against the health guidance in section 3.
\n
Nothing here limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, or for fraud. You can't sign those away and I'm not asking you to.
\n\n
10. Changes, and the law
\n
If these terms change, the updated version appears here with a new date. Carrying on using Ungasp after that means you're happy with it.
\n
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can bring a claim in your local courts.
\n\n
11. Apple's part
\n
Apple has its own licence terms for apps bought through the App Store, and those apply alongside these.
\n
Apple's standard licence: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
\n
\n",

Follow the orb
\n
The orb grows as you breathe in and shrinks as you breathe out. The arc around its edge fills as each phase runs, so you can see how much of the inhale, hold or exhale is left without reading a number.
\n\n
2. Tap the orb
\n
Tap it to start. Tap it again to pause, and once more to carry on. You don't need to reach for a button, which matters when your eyes are closed.
\n\n
3. The practice screen
\n
The pill below the orb shows your current practice. Tap the ⓘ info button to see full phase timings and the science behind it, or tap the repeat badge (like ⟳ ×4) to adjust your rounds. To switch to a different practice, scroll down to the list below and tap any pattern or set. When you're ready, tap Start or tap the orb.
\n\n
4. Build your own patterns
\n
On the Practice tab, tap the ⋯ button in the bottom-right corner to open your library, then tap + to create a pattern.
\n
A pattern is a list of phases and you can have as many as you like. Each one is an inhale, an exhale, a hold, a recovery, or a slow exhale you finish with a tap. Set any length from a tenth of a second up to three minutes. Give a phase your own name if the default doesn't fit. Set the rounds, and watch the cycle time and total practice time calculate automatically while you build.
\n\n
5. Chain patterns into sets
\n
A set is a run of patterns, one after another, repeated up to twenty times.
\n
That's how you build a practice that changes as it goes. A gentle warm-up into the hard part. Holds that get longer round by round. Ungasp moves between them and cues every change, so you're breathing instead of watching a clock. If a pattern only makes sense inside a set, turn on Set Only and it stays out of your main list.
\n\n
6. The CO2 Tolerance Test
\n
This one behaves differently from everything else.
\n
You breathe in, then let the air out as slowly as you can while the screen counts up. When you can't exhale any further, tap the orb. Ungasp records how long you lasted and tells you what that score means. Nothing forces the end of it. The test only stops when you tap.
\n\n
7. Sound and vibration
\n
Check your phone isn't on silent, or you'll hear nothing.
\n
Every phase has its own sound. Holds open with a low struck bowl tone, and on a hold of thirty seconds or more a soft wood block marks the halfway point so you can pace it without looking. Turn on Vibrations and every phase change has its own feel, which is enough to run a whole session with the screen off. The sound keeps playing when the screen locks, so you can put the phone in your pocket.
\n\n
8. Make it yours
\n
Seven colour themes, and the app icon on your home screen changes to match the one you pick.
\n
Under Display and Orb you can set the glow intensity, the background effect and how quickly colours shift between phases. You can also keep the screen awake for a whole session and hide the status bar, so there's nothing on screen but the orb.
\n\n
9. Back up your practices
\n
Everything you build stays on your phone. Nothing is uploaded anywhere, which is why a backup is worth taking.
\n
Export Practices writes your patterns and sets to a single file you can keep or send to someone. Import Practices reads one back, which is also how you move your practices to a new phone.
\n\n
\n\n
\n
Breath holds aren't for everyone. Box breathing, 4-7-8, the same handful everywhere. Some would let you make a simple pattern of your own, and that was as far as it went.
\n
If a book or a trainer or a physio gave you something more involved, you'd struggle to do it manually, counting in your head. You could use an interval timer, but that's a crude way to run complex breath patterns.
\n
So Ungasp works the other way round. You open it, there's one pattern on the screen and one thing to tap, and you breathe. That's the whole first minute.
\n
Today that four part breath takes me a few minutes to build, and I can add it to another pattern.
\n
It's simple first. You can make it complicated if you want to, but that's your choice.
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
THE OFFER
\n
Thirty days free, then decide
\n
\n
Ungasp is an iPhone app. It's £14.99 a year in the UK, or £39.99 once if you'd rather just own it.
\n
There's a month free and no card, so you can live with it a while and find out whether it's any use to you before you pay anything.
\n
There are a lot of breathing apps. Ungasp is the one I wanted and couldn't find, and it might not be the one you want. Box Breathing and 4-7-8 stay free for good either way.
\n
If that sounds like the app you've been after, give it a go.
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Build your first pattern tonight
\nJoin the TestFlight beta
",
